Leket Hakemach – Amsterdam, 1607 – First Edition – Rare Copy on a Special Leaf
Sefer Leket Hakemach, an important, fundamental halachic book with an abbreviation of Shut and Chidushei Dinim introduced by the last Poskim on Seder Arba'ah Turim from books and manuscripts by leading rabbis. By the Gaon Rabbi Moshe ben Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov hagiz – HaRav Hameni'ach. Two sections.
Amsterdam, 1707. First edition. The press of Shlomo Proops. With approbations by Rabbi Shlomo de Oliveyra of Amsterdam, Rabbi Shlomo Ayllon of Amsterdam, Rabbi David Oppenheim Av Beit Din of Prague, Rabbi Avraham Broda and the Dayanim of Prague, Rabbi Yaakov Reisher author of Shevut Yaakov and more.
In this copy, the leaf with the approbations of the two rabbis of Amsterdam, Rabbi Shlomo de Oliveyra and Rabbi Shlomo Ayllon, is missing. Apparently, the leaf appeared in only some of the copies – all the approbations were given in 1706 whereas this approbation was given in late 1707 and it also contained a ban in favor of the printer against trespassing.
Section I: Orach Chaim. [4], 66 leaves.
Section II: Yoreh Deah. 133, [1] leaves. A separate title page for each section.
Sefer Leket Hakemach became a basic halachic book and was printed in dozens of editions of the Shulchan Aruch alongside the enthusiastic approbations by leading rabbis and Geonim in all periods!
This is a spectacular copy with quality, thick, bright leaves and wide margins. Except for a moth perforation in the margins of some leaves in the middle of the book, the book is well-preserved. Bound in a new, elegant leather binding with a gilt inscription and decorations. The corners of the binding are with ornate, engraved metal buckles. Gilt edges. A signature in Ashkenazic script on the title page: "הקטן טעבלי הלוי".
