After a distinguished war record with the United States Navy, he drifted to Wyoming in 1946 and turned trapper, guide and hunter.For more than twenty years, George Dabich has been most at home in the ”high” country where he can study Mother Nature and ”eyeball” her native creatures to his heart's content. A keen observer of wilderness beauty and animal life, he has developed the capacity to document the subjects he portrays with greater accuracy and truth than is usual among fellow artists in the field.He is at home with various media, and paints in oil and watercolor with an occasional pallett knife or velvet rendition to spice things up.His sculpture in bronze indicates a complete knowledge of the old Plains Indian, as well as all forms of North American big game. Much of his time is still spent in the hills and mountains around Cody, Wyoming, fishing, hunting and enjoying ”God's country” to the fullest.
