R' Meir Leibush Malbim (1809-1879), known by the acronym “Malbim” (Meir Leibush Ben Yechiel Michel), served as Rav in various communities including Wretchen, Kempfen, and Bucharest. He was famous for his fierce opposition to the Reform Movement, which resulted in his imprisonment and loss of citizenship.
