Signed by the Chemdas Shlomo, the first rabbi of Warsaw and a Gadol HaDor in the times of the Nesivos and Rabbi Akiva Eiger. Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Lipshitz (1765-1839) was born in Posen, where he learned Torah from Rabbi Yosef, av”d Posen, talmid of the Noda B'Yehudah. From 1804, he served as av”d Nasielsk and from 1821, he was the first rav of the great city of Warsaw. (Until then, the rabbanim in the city were morei tzedek or morei hora'ah.) He was a close colleague of Rabbi Akiva Eiger and often exchanged letters with Rabbi Yaakov of Lissa, the Nesivos. In his responses that were printed in the Chemdas Shlomo, the Nesivos addresses him with many flowery honorifics.
