Delivered by the emissary of Vaad HaYeshivot Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinski (1863-1940), pre-eminent Torah leader of his generation, at the age of 11 began his studies at the Volozhin Yeshiva from R. Chaim of Brisk. At 24, he was appointed rabbi in Vilna. From a young age, he was active in public affairs and his opinion was the deciding factor in all public issues which arose throughout the Jewish world for almost 50 years. The first three parts of the Achiezer responsa were printed by the author himself (Vilna, 1922-1939), and Part 4 was printed from compilations (Bnei Brak, 1986).
