Rabbi Lichtenstein served in the rabbinate of Marghita and Szikszó, Hungary and in 1867 he relocated to serve in the rabbinate of Kolomyya Galicia. He was a renowned preacher who fought G-d's battles by rebuking his generation for ”breaks in the walls” of Torah adherence. Revered by the leading rabbis of his generation, the Divrei Chaim of Sanz praised him highly. His responsa were printed in Teshuvot Beit Hillel (Satmar 1908) and his sermons were printed in the four parts of his book Maskil el Dal, Et La'asot, etc. רבי אליהו הלוי היה רב, פייטן ומשורר שחי בראשית המאה ה-16 בטורקיה. מחבר הספר זקן אהרן. נולד לרבי בנימין בקושטא שבטורקיה, למד אצל רבי משה קפשאלי, ולאחר מכן אצל רבי אליהו מזרחי שאת מקומו מילא כרבה של קושטא החל משנת ה'רפ”ה (1525). כתב שו”ת בשם “תנא דבי אליהו” המכיל 451 תשובות (כמניין “תנא”). הספר הודפס בשם “זקן אהרן” בידי תלמידו רבי אהרן גלמידי, שהיה גם מצאצאי. תשובות נוספות שלו הודפסו בספרי חכמי תקופתו, רבי תם אבן יחיא, רבי יוסף קארו, ועוד. ערך והדפיס את “מחזור רומניה”, שהיה נהוג במדינת יוון ובאזור הבלקן, והוסיף לו בקשות, תחינות ופיוטים.
