Historic Letter about Aliyah Attempts, from Rabbi Aharon HaKohen - The Chafetz Chaim's Son-in-Law - Historic Letter about Aliyah Attempts, from Rabbi Aharon HaKohen - The Chafetz Chaim's Son-in-Law Lengthy and important letter covering 4 pages, entirely handwritten and signed by the gaon Rabbi Aharon Cohen, son-in-law of the nasi - Rabbeinu Yisrael Meir HaKohen of Radin. Written on official stationery bearing the letterhead: ”Aharon HaKohen, Av Beit Din of Nowo-Święciany, a suburb of Vilna, 1924. Letter with rare and important historic content. Sent during the Chafetz Chaim's lifetime  There are also mentioned here, the writer's sefarim, Avodat HaKorbanot The letter discusses Rabbi Aharon's attempts to ascend to the Land of Israel. The only problem that remained for Rabbi Aharon was the enormous expense of the trip - costing over 100 pounds Rabbi Aharon, who never requested financial help from anyone, out of his deep love for the Land of Israel, beseeches for help ascending to the Land, and blesses him from the depths of his heart. ” Aharon HaKohen, son-in-law of the tzaddik, author of Chafetz Chaim, shlit”a.” It is well-known that the Chafetz Chaim's family bore a powerful love for the Land of Israel. The Chafetz Chaim himself (unsuccessfully) attempted to ascend to the Land in his later years. The Chafetz Chaim even set a condition with his sons-in-law that although he obligates himself to support them, they may not prevent him from ascending to the Land of Israel. רבי אהרן הכהן [תרכ”ג – תרצ”ו], חתנו של ה'חפץ חיים' ומחבר ספר עבודת הקרבנות. חמיו החפץ חיים כתב עליו: ”חתני המאור הגדול ירא אלקים באמת וצדיק במעשיו”! למד בישיבות באישישוק ובביאליסטוק. בהיותו בביאליסטוק סייע לחפץ חיים בעת ביקורו בעיר, והחפץ חיים בחר בו כחתן לבתו גיטל (נפטרה בכ”ג תמוז ה'תש”ט). באלול ה'תרמ”ב השניים נישאו והרב אהרן עבר להתגורר ליד חותנו בראדין, שם לימד בישיבה, וסייע לחותנו בכתיבת ספריו והפצתם.  על תקופה זו הוא מספר: ”והנה זיכני הש”י בימי חלדי לזכות עם קדשו במשך כמה וכמה שנים בעת היותי בצותא חדא עם אדמו”ח החפץ חיים שליט”א ... ובמשך כמה וכמה שנים סבבתי בעירות שונות במשך זמן ידוע בשנה וב”ה דברי עשו רשמים כבירים בכל מקום בואי ופעלו הרבה להרמת קרן התורה והמצוה כמאמר חז”ל ”דברים היוצאין מן הלב נכנסין אל הלב” וכל נסיעותי היו בלי שום קבלת פרס” בערך בשנת ה'תרס”ב עבר לכהן כרב בעיירה מיכאילישוק, שם הוציא בשנת ה'תרע”ג (1913) את ספרו ”עבודת הקרבנות”, לאחר מכן כיהן כרב בעיירה נאווא שווינצאן, שם הוציא, בשנת ה'תרפ”ד, את החלק השני של ספרו ”עבודת הקרבנות”. בשנת ה'תרפ”ו עלה לארץ. תחילה התגורר בשכונת שערי חסד בירושלים, אולם בעקבות המחלוקת בין הקנאים לבין הרב קוק עזב את ירושלים ועבר ליפו, בכ”ז בשבט ה'תרצ”ו נפטר ונטמן בבית הקברות בהר הזיתים.
