Letter from Rabbi Hanoch Zvi HaKohen Levin, Rav of Bendin to the Kabbalistic Rabbi Shlomo Eliezer Alfandari - Signs his name and mother's name


Rabbi Chanoch lived 1870-1935, was rabbi of Bendin and leader of Polish Jewry before WWII. Son-in-law of the Admor of Gur, Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Leib Alter, the Sfat Emet. In 1924, he participated in a delegation to Israel led by his brother-in-law, the Admor of Gur, the Imrei Emet. The Admor of Sokolov and his son Yitzhak Meir Levin went with the goal of making peace in the disagreement that broke out between the Haredi community in Jerusalem and Rabbi Avraham Yitzhak HaKohen Kook
