Igeres M’Bais Din Tzedek London V’Hamedina. First edition London 1940. With small handwritten corrections by Rav Abramsky.

The outbreak of World War Two and the subsequent mobilization of troops in England, prompted the London Beth Din under the leadership of Rav Abramsky to formulate a Halachic position to prevent an “Aguna” crisis in the event of soldiers becoming missing in action. The premise to this was based on the Talmudic dictum which states how the troops of King David would issue a conditional divorce in the event of being lost at War. Rav Abramsky who was universally respected as a great Posek, formulated a process appropriate for the era.
