Roke'ach HaGadol – Published by Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev – Zhovkva, 1806 - Roke'ach HaGadol – Published by Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev – Zhovkva, 1806 Sefer HaRokeach - Chassidic Edition Ordered by Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev. Rokeach HaGadol is the renowned book by Rabbi Elazar HaGadol of Germaiza, known by the name of this book, as ”the Ba'al HaRokeach.” It was brought to print ”by order of the Chassid and gaon, the famous Rabbi Levi Yitzchak, av beit din of Berdichev, ” Zolkiew, 1806. Sefer HaRokeach is a comprehensive halachic work including rulings and customs and their rationale according to the tradition of the Ba'alei HaTosafot. This book includes pilpulim alongside concise halachic rulings, as well as passages of mussar, Kabbalah and many gematrias. The work contains, in a brief style, all the laws customary and necessary for a person throughout the year, including the halachahs for the festivals and repentance, prayers and blessings, marriage, issur v'heter and more. Rabbi Tzvi Elimelech of Dinov, in his book, Bnei Yissaschar, regarding Kislev, emphasizes very much that all words by the Rokeach were transmitted directly from Eliyahu HaNavi. This is a rare and important Chassidic edition. The title page indicates that the book was brought to print by order of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berdichev.
