A historical letter from the genius Rabbi Isaac Sher - Kavna 1928 - in praise of Rabbi Yitzchak Hillel Bisko, Founder of the Tiferet Bachurim movement - A historical letter from the genius Rabbi Isaac Sher - Kavna 1928 - in praise of Rabbi Yitzchak Hillel Bisko, Founder of the Tiferet Bachurim movement Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Sche r (1875-1952), a disciple of Rabbi Baruch Ber Lebowitz in Halusk and in Volozhin, before becoming a close disciple and son-in-law of Rabbi Nassan Tzvi Finkel of Slabodka. He later became an assistant head of the Yeshiva, and from 1921 head of its Kollel. After the emigration of his father-in-law to Eretz Yisrael in 1925, Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Scher became head of the Slabodka Yeshiva – together with Rabbi Avraham Grodzenski. At the outbreak of WWII, he was in Switzerland for medical reasons, and thus was saved. He arrived in Eretz Yisrael in 1941, setting up a Kollel in Yerushalayim and re-establishing the Slabodka Yeshiva in Bnei Brak in 1952. R. Yitzchak Hillel Bisko (1880-1960), student of the Radin yeshiva. Founder of the Tiferet Bachurim movement, which included hundreds of branches throughout Europe and beyond. He was one of the supporting pillars of Kollel Kovno, and travelled on its behalf to the Netherlands, England and the United States. He later immigrated to the U.S., where he founded Kollel Kovno (one of the first Kollelim for young Torah scholars in the United States). The Kollel later relocated to Lakewood, N.J., where it was joined by a yeshiva – Beth Medrash Govoha led by R. Aharon Kotler.
