letter by the great Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Yerucham Diskin -  letter by the great Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Yerucham Diskin The Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Yerucham Diskin [1839-1925] Gedol HaDor. The only son of the Gaon Maran the Maharil Diskin who was admiringly called ”The Saraf of Brisk”. After his father's passing, the leaders of the old Yishuv in Jerusalem asked him to immigrate to the Holy Land to head the institutions and lead the community. However, only after the passing of the Rav of Jeruslem Rabbi Shmuel Salant did he actually succeed him, although he did not hold the official position. He bravely fought the war of religion and was one of the builders of Jerusalem and the Temple.
