Did not agree to be coronated as rebbe until after the Holocaust where his brothers, Rebbe Rabbi David of Sochatchov and Rabbi Avraham of Kutno, perished. Reestablished the Sochatchov Chassidism in his Beit Midrash and the Sochatchov Yeshiva in neighborhood of Bayit VaGan in Jerusalem
