The author, the Kabbalist Rabbi Raphael Antebi (1854-1919) author of the book ”Shira Chadasha” was a man of great holiness and the majority of his poetry was established on the wisdom of Kabbalah. His tombstone contains an epitaph ”G-d fearing man, complete and total scholar, pleasant singer of Israel” - On the title page of the book and its introduction the author writes at length regarding the damage to the soul caused by the Arabic flirtatious and lustful melodies, and therefore composed a holy poem appropriate to the known melodies.
