Torat HaOlah – Konigsberg, 1854 – Copy that Belonged to the Chiddushei HaRi”m of Gur - Torat HaOlah – Konigsberg, 1854 – Copy that Belonged to the Chiddushei HaRi”m of Gur ”זה הספר שייך לכבוד הרב המפורסם חריף ובקי צנא מלא ספרא מו”ה יצחק מאיר אלטער מווארשויא” The holy Gaon Rabbi Yitzchak Meir Alter, the first Admo”r of Gur, author of Chiddushei HaRi”m (1799-1866) was one of the Torah giants of his generation and a prominent Chassidic leader of Polish Jewry. In 1859, when the Kotzker Rebbe died, the Chiddushei HaRi”m was appointed to replace him and moved to the town of Gur. He was renowned as one of the great Torah geniuses of his generation, and wrote many compositions and responsa, halacha and aggada. He died in 1866 and four years later his grandson, Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Leib Alter, author of the Sefat Emet, was crowned the second Admo”r of the Gur dynasty.
