[אולי מפריישטאט עיר מולדתו של ר' אברהם שאג Rabbi Avraham Sha'ag-Zwebner [1801-1876] was appointed rabbi of Schottelsdorf at the age of 25, and later on as rabbi of Kobersdorf. He was the foremost disciple of the Chata”m Sofer, who stated regarding him that ”For twenty parsa'ot around Pressburg there is no Torah scholar like him, and a tzaddik like him is to be found nowhere in the country.” Before his marriage, the Chata”m Sofer was asked to select the most excellent disciple of the yeshivah, and he pointed to Rabbi Avraham. Once, while studying, he drifted off and fell asleep on his gemara. The young man sitting next to R' Avraham wanted to wake him up, because it is disrespectful to the gemara to sleep on it, and his teacher the Chat”m Sofer said, be careful not to wake R' Avraham, because it is a clear halachah that one Torah scroll may by placed upon another Torah scroll, and Rabbi Avraham Sha'ag is a living Torah scroll! When he was 72 years old, he ascended to the Land of Israel with his family and settled in Jerusalem. His disciple Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld, then a young married Torah scholar, ascended together with him. The Pressburg HaMaggid from that year relates that thousands of people gathered in Baden, including community rabbis, to see him off, and sounds of crying were heard from the crowd. Rabbinic leaders of Jerusalem said that he had Divine inspiration.
