Tohono Oodham Polychrome Pottery Wedding Vase Signed J.A. - This hand-painted earthenware wedding vase is a traditional pottery form from the Tohono Oodham people of the Southwestern United States. The vessel features a classic silhouette with two spouts joined by a single central bridge handle, all integrated into a shared bulbous body. The piece is crafted from earthenware with a matte, unglazed surface. The exterior is decorated with polychrome hand-painted slip in a bold geometric pattern. A large, stylized M motif in terracotta orange is outlined in black, featuring internal black-and-white stepped and zig-zag lightning designs set against a cream-colored ground. The rims of the spouts are finished with black slip. The base of the vessel is hand-signed in black ink with the artist initials J.A. and the tribal affiliation Tohono Oodham.
