A Large Collection of Yamaha Traditional Japanese Ningyo Dolls in a Custom Hardwood Display Cabinet - An assortment of traditional Japanese dolls, known as ningyo, from the Yamaha line of high-quality handicrafts. The collection features a variety of cultural subjects, including bijin-ga (geisha and beautiful women), kabuki theatrical characters, and traditional folk dancers. The dolls are characterized by hand-painted gofun (crushed oyster shell paste) faces and hands, providing a smooth white matte finish. They are dressed in elaborate kimonos made from silk brocade (nishiki) and embroidered fabrics. Key subjects include a dancer with multiple red hanagasa (flower hats), figures with parasols and fans, and a musician with a stringed instrument. The dolls are mounted on black lacquered or natural wood bases, several of which feature small rectangular labels with the Yamaha mark.
