Responsa Hitorerus Teshuva, Orach Chaim, Budapest Edition, 1942. Rabbi Shimon Sofer was born in Pressburg in 1850. His father was Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Binyamin Sofer, author of Kדav Sofer, son of the author of Chaדשm Sofer. He lived in Kleinwardein, Uman, Kiev and Pressburg. From 1881, he served as rabbi of Erlau for over sixty years. He was a leader of Hungarian Jewry until he was murdered at a very old age by the Nazis in 1944. He authored Shu”t Hitorerus Teshuvah.
