Letter from Rabbi Zelig Reuven Bengis to Rabbi Reuven Katz, Erev Shevous 1944. Wishing Mazel Tov and Berachos for his daughter's wedding. R. Zelig Reuven Bengis (1864-1953), was born in Shnipishok (near Vilna) and was known as a prodigy from a young age. At seventeen he went to learn in the Volozhin Yeshiva under the Netziv, who called him the “Living Shas”. While learning at Volozhin, his reputation quickly grew and he was known as a diligent and brilliant student. In 1892, he was appointed Rav of Bodki, Poland and in 1911 he became Rav of Kalvarija, Lithuania. In 1938, he emigrated to Eretz Yisroel where he served on the Beis Din of the Eidah HaCharedis until his passing. He authored the multi-volume Liflagos Reuven. Post card.
