Letter signed by R. Eliyohu Meir Bloch and his brother-in-law R. Chaim Mordechai Katz, Cleveland Oih, 1951.
R. Eliyohu Meir Bloch (1895-1956) was a son of R. Yosef Leib Bloch (Telzer Rav). He served on the faculty of the Telz yeshiva in Lithuania. He miraculously survived the Holocaust whilst in America on a fund raising trip for the Yeshiva, with his Brother in law R. Chaim Mordechai Katz. Together they devoted themselves to the reestablishment of the Yeshiva in Cleveland Ohio.
R. Chaim Mordechai Katz (1894-1964), was a son-in-law of R. Yosef Leib Bloch of Telz. Renowned from his youth as an outstanding Torah scholar, he headed the Kollel in Telz. In 1940, R. Chaim Mordechai travelled to the USA together with his brother-in-law R. Eliyahu Meir Bloch, on a perilous journey via Siberia and Japan, to attempt to rescue the yeshiva students and their families who remained in war-ravaged Telz. Upon their arrival in the US, they reestablished the Yeshiva in Cleveland, Ohio.
