Chidushei Ben Yair, Chernowitz 1900, By R' Chaim Mordechai Roller. Rare. - Rabbi Chaim Mordechai Roller (1868-1946). Rabbi of Târgu Neamţ for nearly 50 years. Author of 'Shu”t Be'er Mordechai' and Shu”t HaRashbid. A scion of Rabbi Naftali Katz and the Maharal of Prague, a disciple of Rabbi David Moshe Friedman of Chortkov and Rabbi Yitzchak Friedman of Bohush. Known for his holy customs - he spent most of the day studying Torah wearing a prayer shawl and adorned in Rabbeinu Tam tefillin. He studied Kabbalah each Shabbat from midnight until daybreak. It is told that he went out to search for a prayer quorum during a riot against Jews, was attacked by a gang and miraculously saved from them, as a result of which he published his book 'Borchi Nafshi'. He immigrated to Israel in 1946 and settled in Jerusalem. Rabbi Eliezer Zussia of Skulen said about him: ”There is almost no-one like him in several countries who is great in Torah and character traits”. The ”Roller” study house in Ashkelon was established in his memory, as was the ”Be'er Chaim Mordechai” Talmud Torah of the Vizhnitz chassidut in Bnei Brak. He was very active in permitting agunos to remarry, after the Holocaust he permitted the aguna Gittel, daughter of Rabbi Meir Arik to remarry. His short work ”Kuntress Be'er Chaim Mordechai” was used in many cases after the Holocaust to permit agunos to remarry. Pages : 109, 6. Size : 33 cm.
