Bais Elokim, Warsaw 1872, Owned by Rabbi Chaim Meshulam Kaufman Utterman of Gostinin. - Bais Elokim, Warsaw 1872, with a stamp of the Gaon R' Rabbi Chaim Meshulam Kaufman. Rabbi Chaim Meshulam Kaufman , also known as Utterman [1861-1924], was among the famous rabbis of Poland, a disciple of the Admo”r Rabbi Meir Yechiel of Ostrovtza and of Rabbi Chaim Eliezer Wax of Petrikov, author of Nefesh Chayah. He served as rabbi in Ratziondzh and then in Gostinin, as well as in Pultosk. He established a yeshivah and led it. He is known for his work Petach HaOhel, and he also authored Eleh HaMitzvot, Nes LaShoshanim, Eleh HaEdot, and Eleh HaMishpatim. In his book Mikveh Taharah (Warsaw, 1914), there is a polemic about the suitability of a mikveh. It includes a lengthy responsum sent to him by Rabbi Yosef Rosen of Dvinsk [”The Rogachover”] in which he addresses him using exalted titles. Size : 21.5 cm. Condition : Very fine condition.
