Levush Mordechei 1929, inscribed by the author Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Epstein. - Levush Mordechei 1929, inscribed by the author Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Epstein to Rabbi Avraham Yaakov Aurlianski (1879-1929). The sefer was given to Rav Aurlianski about 10 weeks before he passed away. Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Epstein (1866 - 1934) was the Av Beis Din and Rosh Mesivta of Slabodka-Chevron. He was a prominent Lithuanian Torah leader and one of the founders of the Lithuanian Agudas HaRabbanim. In 1923 he participated in the grand Agudas Yisrael convention that took place in Vienna and was one of the lead speakers there. He was selected to join the international Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah. In 1929, Rabbi Moshe Mordechai transferred a large share of his yeshiva to the city of Chevron, Eretz Yisrael. During the Chevron Massacres of 1929, several of his yeshiva students were murdered. This took a heavy toll on Rabbi Moshe Mordechai’s health and led to his eventual passing. Very good condition.
