Letter from Rabbi Eleizer Silver, 1946. - Letter written and signed by Rabbi Eleizer Silver. Rabbi Eliezer Silver [1881-1968] was born in Lithuania. He was one of the first disciples of Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinski, av”d Vilna; and he learned by Rabbi Dovid Karliner and Rabbi Chaim Soloveitchik. In 1907, he moved to the United States where he served as President of the Union of Orthodox Rabbis of the United States and Canada and was one of the foremost Orthodox rabbis of American Jewry. He was famed for his rescue activities during the Second World War. He served in many rabbinical positions; in New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Ohio. Size : 27.5 x 21 cm.
