Fundamental Chasidic sefer on the Weekly Torah portions and the Yomim Tovim, including the Pesach Haggadah, by the legendary R. Naftoli Horowitz of Ropchitz. Includes an important approbation by the Divrei Chaim of Sanz, a talmid of the Ropshitzer, who writes that he originally felt that this sefer should not be printed, as the Ropshitzer did not prepare any of his teachings for publication in his lifetime, but having seen similar circumstances with the writings of R. Chaim Vital, he is encourages its printing. The name of the sefer, Zera Kodesh was chosen by the Divrei Chaim. R' Naftoli Tzvi Horowitz of Ropchitz (1760-1827), was born the day the Ba’al Shem Tov was niftar, (on Shavuos of 1760). He was descended from a prominent rabbinical family. He learned under both his grandfather, R. Yitzchok of Hamburg, and R. Meshulam Igra. In his youth he was drawn to Chassidus and became a primary talmid of R. Elimelech of Lizhensk. He was also a talmid of R. Menachem Mendel of Rimanov. At the recommendation of R. Menachem Mendel of Rimanov, he was appointed Rav of Ropchitz where he served for many years and after which he is known. He later served as Rav in Linsk, Strzyzow and Sanock. Following the passing of his Rebbes, R. Naftali became a great Rebbe in his own right, and was the preeminent Rebbe in Poland and Galicia. Stefansky Chassidus 208.
