R.C. GORMAN SIGNED NAVAJO WOMAN, WORK ON PAPER - Large figurative work on paper attributed to Rudolph Carl Gorman (R.C. Gorman, American/Navajo, 1931–2005), depicting a seated Indigenous woman viewed from behind. The figure is rendered with fluid blue contour lines and softly modeled blue-gray passages against a largely unworked pale ground. The composition demonstrates the simplified line, monumental figure and restrained palette closely associated with Gorman's representations of Navajo women. Signed R.C. Gorman in blue at the lower left. No visible edition number observed. Presented under glass with a cream-colored mat accented by a narrow gold-tone inner border, housed in a slender gold-tone frame. The work has not been removed from the frame for examination; therefore, the exact medium and whether the work is unique or editioned have not been conclusively determined. MEASURES: 28 X 22 inches FRAME DIMENSIONS: 36 x 30 x 1 inches CONDITION REPORT: Overall in good pre-owned condition, with age-and display-related wear. The work is presented under glass and has not been removed from the frame for examination.
