ABSTRACT REVERSE PAINTING ON PLEXIGLAS SIGNED ROTH - Large contemporary abstract reverse painting on Plexiglas by Steele, signed “Roth” or similarly appearing signature at lower right. Executed using a reverse-painting technique in which multiple layers of pigment are applied to the backside of clear Plexiglas and viewed through the front surface. The composition features broad horizontal fields of vivid red and cream with expressive passages of turquoise, yellow, orange, black, and burgundy, creating a richly layered and luminous effect. Retains an informational label verso titled “Reverse Paintings on Plexiglas by Steele, ” describing the artist's technique and use of Plexiglas as the painting support. MEASURES: 48 X 48 X 1 inches CONDITION REPORT: Overall good condition with scattered scratches, scuffs, abrasions, and surface marks to the exposed Plexiglas front, some of which are noticeable under direct lighting. Minor dust and surface soiling present. Because the work is reverse-painted on the backside of the Plexiglas, the paint layer is largely protected by the Plexiglas support when viewed from the front. Verso informational paper label exhibits creasing, staining, small tears/punctures, and general age-related wear.
