Edward Marshall Boehm ”Baby Chickadee” Figurine #461 - Hallmark #461, circa 1962 - 1973, is from a series of fledglings created by the Boehm company during this time period. Bravely perched on a pine branch, the baby chickadee with hungry mouth open is fluttering his young wings to draw attention to the fact he is ready for more to eat.Measuring approx 3.5” tall, good condition as shown, see photos. Design: Edward Marshall Boehm (1913-1969), a self-taught sculptor, and his wife, Helen, starts their basement studio in 1950 in Trenton, New Jersey. In 1951 the Metropolitan Museum of Art acquired two of their first sculptures, a Percheron Stallion and Hereford Bull. From then on the Boehm name was recognized world wide by presidents, royalty and other world leaders. Upon Edward's death in 1969, Helen assumed the reigns of the company and in 1970 started efforts that created Boehm of Malvern England Ltd. in 1973. Helen passed away in 2010 at the age of 89.
