Large Southeast Asian Slat-Constructed Goblet Drum in the Style of a Burmese Ozi - This monumental handcrafted floor object is constructed as a Southeast Asian goblet drum, specifically resembling a Burmese ozi. The piece is composed of long vertical bamboo or wood slats that form a tall, tapered body. These slats are secured by multiple horizontal bands of intricately woven rattan and natural fiber. The top features an animal hide drumhead secured with decorative woven borders. The base is flared and finished with a dense weave. A braided natural-fiber carrying strap is attached at the neck. A small white tag with the handwritten characters 0109 is attached to the handle. The form and construction are consistent with mid-to-late 20th-century ethnographic items from Myanmar.
