Karpen Upholstered Open Armchair with Carved Crest - This upholstered open armchair features an eclectic design with prominent Egyptian Revival elements. The dark-stained hardwood frame supports a tall, rectangular backrest. The backrest is surmounted by a separate carved wooden crest depicting a winged sun disk flanked by two uraei, or cobras, a central motif in Ancient Egyptian iconography. The chair is fully upholstered in a rust-toned floral damask fabric featuring gold and green accents, finished with a continuous border of brass-headed nailhead trim. The open wooden arms are sinuous with turned and carved central sections, terminating in scroll-form hand rests. The base consists of four legs joined by a turned H-stretcher with a central bulbous element. The front legs are cabriole-style with carved foliate knees and scroll feet, while the rear legs are slightly flared. A small, illegible white rectangular tag is adhered to the top of the left arm. No manufacturer marks or brands are visible on the exposed frame.
