Girey World War II US Military Sweetheart Vanity Compact in Original Box - A mid-20th century American dual-compartment vanity compact manufactured by Girey. The rectangular silver-toned metal case features turquoise-blue crushed stone inlay on the front and back faces. An applied metal Great Seal of the United States emblem is centered on the front face, featuring a red, white, and blue enameled shield and small inset rhinestones in the wings and head. The interior contains a rectangular glass mirror in the lid and two wells. The upper rectangular well contains orange-toned cake rouge. The lower square well is covered by a hinged metal door and contains loose face powder and a fabric puff. A suspension ring is attached to the top edge. A printed black ink crest on the cardboard box lid features a crown above a shield with a diagonal band containing the name GIREY. The fabric strap on the interior powder puff is printed with Girey in black cursive script. The hinged metal interior door is engraved with a crest identical to the box containing the name GIREY. 3.25 inches in length by 1.75 inches in width. The silver-toned plating shows heavy wear and tarnishing throughout, with the base metal visible along the edges as seen in photos 1, 10, and 11. Visible green verdigris oxidation is present at the corners of the blue composite panels in photos 2 and 14. Several rhinestones are missing from the eagle emblem, and the remaining stones show age-related yellowing in photo 14. The enameled shield exhibits surface wear in photo 14. The interior mirror is intact but dusty in photo 4. Metal interior surfaces are covered in powder residue and show scattered oxidation in photos 5 and 6. The rouge cake is cracked and crumbly in photo 7. The powder puff shows use and discoloration in photo 5.
