Twelve Karat Gold-Filled and Mother-of-Pearl Oval Locket Pendant - This oval locket pendant is constructed from 12 karat gold-filled metal and features a polished mother-of-pearl inlay on the front face. The mother-of-pearl exhibits natural white and silver iridescence. The locket is suspended from a decorative bail with a scalloped edge and scrollwork detailing. A side hinge allows the pendant to open, revealing two interior compartments designed to hold photographs, each equipped with a retaining rim. The interior left face bears stamped marks in three distinct lines. The top line reads 1/20. The middle line contains a square cartouche with the letter B and an oval cartouche with the characters CO. The bottom line reads 12K G.F. The metal has a yellow gold-tone finish throughout. Locket body length measures approximately 1 inch. Total length including bail measures approximately 1 3/8 inches. Width measures approximately 3/4 inch at the widest point. The locket is in fair to good vintage condition. The reverse metal face shows heavy surface scratching and multiple fine abrasions (photo 6). Significant green verdigris and oxidation are present on the bail and the circular attachment ring (photo 7). There is a visible gap in the closure seam on the side opposite the hinge (photo 9). The hinge is functional and the locket remains closed when shut. The mother-of-pearl inlay is intact and free of visible chips or cracks (photo 1).
