Morris and Willmore Co. Monk Playing Violin Glazed Ceramic Mug - A glazed ceramic mug featuring a transfer-printed portrait of a tonsured monk playing a violin. The vessel is decorated with a gradient glaze transitioning from a pale yellowish-green at the top to a warm brown at the base, with dark reddish-brown accents applied to the rim, handle, and foot. The base of the mug displays a printed brown mark consisting of a stylized monogram of the letters M and W within a double-lobed border, alongside the printed text MORRIS WILLMORE CO. TRENTON, N.J. (photo 3). The interior is finished with a clear glaze over a white ceramic body. Height: approximately 5 inches (photo 4). The mug exhibits extensive crazing across all glazed surfaces, which is a common characteristic of this type of ceramic (photos 1, 2, 3). There is dark staining and discoloration visible within the crazing lines, particularly on the interior and the underside of the base (photo 3). Minor surface scuffs, abrasions, and scattered glaze pinholes are present on the exterior (photo 2). No chips, cracks, or signs of restoration are visible in the provided photographs.
