Bidspirit auction | A Pair of Blue Opalescent

A Pair of Blue Opalescent Glass Coin Spot Swirl Creamer and Sugar Bowl - This set comprises a matching creamer and sugar bowl crafted from blue opalescent glass. Both pieces feature a coin spot or polka dot pattern integrated into a vertical ribbed or swirled mold design. The glass transitions from a translucent sky blue body to a milky white opalescence on the raised coin spots and along the rim. The creamer is fitted with an applied clear blue glass handle with a distinctive thumb rest at the top. The sugar bowl is of a globular form with a short collar rim. Both items exhibit a smooth, fire-polished base with no visible pontil marks or maker signatures. This set represents the Victorian era of American glass production, utilizing mold-blown techniques with hand-applied finishing. The sugar bowl is in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. The creamer has a significant jagged chip located on the interior edge of the ruffled rim (photo 5). Both pieces show minor shelf wear on the underside of the bases consistent with age.
