Hawkes American Brilliant Period Cut Crystal Footed Bowl in Thousand Eye Pattern - This footed bowl is crafted from heavy lead crystal, featuring a brilliant-cut pattern known as Thousand Eye or bullseye. The deep, rounded vessel is decorated with multiple rows of deep circular lens cuts that create internal magnifying effects and light refraction. The bowl sits on a low, waisted pedestal leading to a circular foot also decorated with circular cuts. The upper rim is finished with sharp, hand-cut serrated scalloping. An acid-etched maker's mark is visible in the center of the interior basin, featuring two birds (hawks) flanking a central clover or trefoil design with the word HAWKES readable in a curved arc below. The high lead content of the glass is evident from the rainbow-colored prismatic fire visible in the cut facets. Height: 4 inches Diameter: 7 inches. The bowl is in excellent condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. The glass clarity is high with no evidence of clouding or sick glass. The sharp serrated points along the rim appear intact (photo 1). The acid-etched mark is clear and legible (photo 8). Minor, age-appropriate shelf wear is present on the underside of the foot.
