Wilcox and Wagoner Watson Sterling Silver Art Nouveau Style Footed Centerpiece Bowl - A sterling silver footed centerpiece or fruit bowl. The vessel features a quatrefoil or lobed form with a scalloped rim, accented by small silver spheres applied at the crest of each lobe. The bowl is elevated on an openwork pedestal base composed of four foliate supports with Art Nouveau-style leaf motifs. These supports are interspersed with vertical rods topped with silver spheres, all of which terminate in a circular ring base featuring a beaded border. The underside of the bowl (photo 4) is stamped with an impressed mark consisting of a circular device containing a stylized bird with spread wings, positioned above the word STERLING and the model number 315. This mark identifies the piece as being produced by Wilcox and Wagoner, a division of the Watson Company. Height: 6 inches Width: 10 inches Weight: 34.0 oz. The item shows significant signs of age and use. The interior of the bowl displays heavy surface scratching and scuff marks throughout (photo 3). Both interior and exterior surfaces exhibit tarnish and dark spotting or firescale (photos 1, 2, and 3). One of the decorative silver spheres on the scalloped rim appears slightly misaligned (photo 1). The base and openwork supports show accumulated tarnish in the recessed areas of the foliate design (photo 2).
