Handcrafted Arts and Crafts Hammered Copper Wall Sconce - A wall-mounted antique electric sconce of handcrafted copper construction. The fixture features a shield-shaped backplate with a conical arm that supports a hanging lantern frame. The lantern is designed with a conical top cowl and a cage consisting of four vertical wires joined to a circular bottom ring. It is equipped with an Edison-style brass screw socket and a metal ball-pull chain switch. A yellow cloth-covered electrical cord exits from the top of the backplate. The copper surfaces exhibit hand-hammered texture and are joined with visible rivets. The interior of the bottom ring and the socket area show a green verdigris patina. The backplate includes pre-drilled holes for mounting. Backplate width at widest point: 6 inches Backplate depth projection: 7.5 inches Lantern portion height: 7 inches. This antique fixture is in its original found condition. The copper surfaces show a natural aged patina with scattered oxidation, scuffs, and areas of verdigris, particularly on the interior of the bottom ring (photo 1) and the backplate (photo 4). The glass chimney or shade is not present. The copper cage wires show slight structural asymmetry (photo 5). The yellow cloth-covered cord shows light fraying at the point of exit from the backplate (photo 4). The reverse of the backplate has surface discoloration and adhesive residue from a removed label (photo 4). Given the age and exposed wiring, the electrical components require professional inspection or rewiring before use.
