Arts and Crafts Hammered Copper Roycroft Signed Bowl - An Arts and Crafts period decorative bowl constructed from hand-hammered copper. The vessel features a planished exterior surface characterized by visible hammer marks and a flared rim. The body is decorated with six vertical chased lines that terminate in stylized tripartite foliate or trefoil motifs at the shoulder, interspersed with two horizontal chased bands near the rim. The bowl is supported by a short, integral circular foot. The base of the bowl is Roycroft signed, featuring a stamped mark composed of an orb and cross symbol above a circle containing a stylized letter R. Additionally, two small circular holes are drilled through the base near the foot rim. The interior of the bowl displays a heavy, uneven green and white mineral crust consistent with copper oxidation. Diameter: 9 1/4 inches. The bowl is in good antique condition with signs of age and use. The exterior retains a dark, consistent brown patina with minor surface scratches and localized rubbing to the high points of the hammered texture (photo 1). The interior exhibits significant oxidation and a thick layer of green verdigris and white mineral deposits across the bottom and lower sides (photo 4). Two small, clean-edged holes are drilled through the base, likely for a previous mounting or hanging hardware (photo 5). There is a small circular indentation or stamp on the center of the base containing a stylized letter R under an orb and cross (photo 6).
