Isamu Noguchi Akari Model BB3-33N Floor Lamp - A floor lamp featuring an elongated ovoid shade constructed of translucent washi paper over coiled bamboo ribbing, supported by a central wire frame. The shade is marked near the lower aperture with a red stamped device comprising a solid circle and crescent moon, followed by the printed text I. noguchi. The shade mounts to a natural bamboo pole standard fitted into a weighted, domed cast iron base with a black textured finish. The lamp is fitted with a single light socket suspended within the shade, and the electrical cord extends downward through the standard. The fixture illuminates when powered. A puncture hole with associated tearing and surrounding creasing is visible to the washi paper shade (Photos 5 and 6). Minor creasing, faint surface marks, and typical age toning are present across the paper shade. The black-finished cast iron base exhibits light surface scuffs and areas of finish wear (Photos 1 and 2). The bamboo standard and internal metal stretcher are intact. The lamp is wired and illuminates (Photos 1, 3, and 7), but rewiring and professional inspection by a qualified electrician are recommended prior to use.
