1860's Kelly Lamp Co. Railroad Fire Presentation Lantern With Two-Tone Globe - An antique fixed-globe railroad fire presentation lantern featuring a brass frame and a distinctive two-tone glass globe. The lantern is constructed with a wire cage that protects a bulbous glass globe, which transitions from a teal-blue translucent top to a clear bottom section. The metal frame displays circular ventilation holes around the top cap and is equipped with a wire bail handle. The underside of the font features two sets of impressed marks. The first set of characters is arranged in a circular format and reads W. WESTLAKE PAT. SEP. 12 '65 DEC. 12 '65 APR. 7 '68. The second set of characters, located in the center, reads KELLY LAMP CO. ROCHESTER, N.Y. The materials include metal and glass. Height: 10.5 inches (excluding handle). This antique lantern exhibits a heavy aged patina and oxidation across all metal surfaces (photo 1). A significant vertical crack is visible in the glass globe, extending through the clear and blue sections (photo 5 and 6). Surface dirt and cobwebs are present throughout the cage and font (photo 4). The glass globe shows internal soot accumulation and surface grime (photo 3). The impressed marks on the base are clear and legible (photo 7 and 8).
