Antique Punched Tin and Wood Foot Warmer with Heart Motif - This antique foot warmer features a primitive construction consisting of a wooden frame housing a decorative punched tin box. The rectangular frame is built with four lathe-turned corner posts joined to horizontal rails using mortise-and-tenon joints, secured with wooden pegs and hand-wrought iron nails. The interior box is constructed of tin panels featuring hand-punched circular ventilation holes and decorative heart motifs on the sides, top, and the single hinged door. An iron wire bail handle is attached to the upper wooden rails for transport. The interior of the tin box is an open chamber designed to hold heated coals or a ceramic warming stone. No maker marks or inscriptions are visible on the wood or metal surfaces. Width: 9 inches Height: 6 inches. The item shows a character and surface consistent with its antique nature. The tin components exhibit heavy oxidation and rust throughout all surfaces, including the interior (photo 5). A white residue or substance is present on the exterior of one tin panel (photo 2). The wooden frame shows weathering, surface wear, and minor losses to the edges and corners (photo 1). The iron handle and door hinges show surface corrosion but appear intact. The wooden pegs and nails exhibit oxidation and wear commensurate with the age of the materials (photo 7).
