Antique Double Arm Student Lamp with H and B Duplex Burners and Ribbed Iridescent Art Glass Shades - An antique double arm student lamp constructed from brass and bronze with a dark aged patina. The lamp features a central lidded urn-form font flanked by two adjustable arms, each supporting a burner and shade assembly. The burners are identifiable by the wick adjuster knobs, which feature embossed text arranged with a central horizontal DUPLEX, a letter H above, and a letter B below. The lamp is fitted with two matching cased art glass shades. Each shade exhibits a vertically ribbed or pillowed texture and a graduated color palette transitioning from an aqua blue top rim into a pale yellow-green body. The glass surfaces possess a lustrous iridescent finish. The circular base is decorated with a cast radiating petal design. The lamp has been converted to electricity and is currently fitted with compact fluorescent bulbs and an inline cord switch. Overall width: approximately 23.5 inches. Shade base diameter: approximately 10 inches. The lamp is in antique condition. The glass shades show typical manufacturing variations including an internal bubble near the lower rim of one shade (photo 6). There are small chips and flakes along the ground bottom edges of the glass (photos 4, 12). Surface scratches are present on the glass. The metal components exhibit an uneven patina with surface oxidation and verdigris consistent with age. There is a notable area of finish loss or a large scratch on one side of the central font (photo 10). The electrical components are of later date and functionality is untested. The shades sit loosely within the support rings.
