Handel Arts and Crafts Patinated Bronze Table Lamp Base - An early 20th-century Arts and Crafts period table lamp base made by Handel. The base is constructed from patinated bronze, featuring a flared, lobed foot with organic, petal-like motifs that transition into a slender, tapered stem with a central knop. The top is fitted with a dual-socket cluster, each equipped with an independent pull-chain switch. The lamp is topped with a circular copper heat cap featuring six stylized fleur-de-lis cut-outs for ventilation. The finish is a variegated green and brown patina, characteristic of period metalwork. An impressed mark on the underside of the base rim consists of block capital letters reading HANDEL. The sockets bear stamped lettering including the word PRESS and electrical specifications. The wiring is a dual-strand cord with a plastic plug. Height: 20.5 inches. The lamp base exhibits physical characteristics consistent with its antique age. There is significant green verdigris and oxidation throughout the bronze base, stem, and sockets (photo 1, 2, and 3). The copper heat cap shows a brighter tone and minor surface scratches (photo 4). The electrical wiring appears to be a later replacement and shows some fraying where it exits the base (photo 2). One pull chain retains a decorative acorn finial, while the second chain is missing the end pull (photo 3). The underside shows heavy oxidation and mineral deposits (photo 5).
