Antique Houze and Company Hand Painted Glass Table Lamp - A vintage table lamp featuring a glass vase-style body mounted on a cast metal base. The central body is constructed of black amethyst glass, appearing opaque black in standard light but showing translucent purple when backlit. The glass is hand painted in a Chinoiserie style featuring a bird perched on a branch beside a large yellow celestial disc, surrounded by green foliage, a stylized red peony, and a blue floral element. The lamp is fitted with a two-socket brass cluster featuring pull chains and a threaded finial post. The cast metal base is decorated with ornate foliate and scrollwork patterns. An embossed mark is located on the underside of the cast metal base (photo 6), consisting of the letter D to the left of a rectangular border containing the raised characters HOUZE & CO. The lamp retains a vintage cloth-covered cord. Height: 23.5 inches to the top of the finial post. The antique hand-painted decoration shows significant wear, notably flaking and pigment loss on the blue flower (photo 3) and small losses to the black finish near the neck of the vase (photo 2). The metal components, including the base and brass sockets, exhibit a heavy aged patina, oxidation, and surface wear consistent with age (photo 4, 5). One pull chain is missing its decorative end bead (photo 4). The vintage cloth-covered electrical cord is frayed and requires professional inspection and rewiring prior to use (photo 1).
