Late 19th Century Hanging Harp Kerosene Lantern with Blue Glass Reservoir and Reflector - A utilitarian hanging kerosene lantern featuring a wire harp frame and a blue glass fuel font. The lamp is constructed with a pressed steel base featuring a decorative heart-shaped pierced pattern that allows the blue glass reservoir to be viewed. The burner assembly includes a thumbwheel adjuster for a flat wick. A clear glass chimney is held within the wire frame, which is topped by a tall wire handle ending in a hanging loop. The lantern is equipped with a removable circular metal reflector shade with a white enameled underside. A mark is present on the upper portion of the glass chimney, featuring a printed white emblem or crest above text that is not clearly legible as a name or word. Overall height: 16.5 inches (photo 4). The metalwork, including the wire frame and burner, exhibits significant surface oxidation, rust, and pitting throughout (photo 1). The brass-toned base shows visible tarnish and verdigris (photo 3). The removable reflector shade displays heavy chipping, flaking, and rust staining to the white enamel on the underside (photo 5). The clear glass chimney is intact but appears clouded with heavy dust and soot accumulation (photo 1). The wick-advancing mechanism is heavily rusted and may be seized (photo 3). The item is sold for decorative use or restoration.
