Mid-to-Late 20th Century Chinese Cloisonne Enamel Floral Vase - A small Chinese cloisonne enamel vase featuring an ovoid body, a narrow tapering neck, and a flared rim. The piece is constructed using the cloisonne technique, with brass wires soldered to a base metal body to form cells for the application of colored vitreous enamels. The decorative program consists of stylized floral blossoms, including peonies and smaller five-petal flowers, rendered in shades of red, pink, yellow, and blue. These motifs are interspersed with elongated, serrated leaf forms in yellow and purple. The background is finished with a mottled, dark brownish-purple enamel with a granular texture. The interior of the flared brass rim and the underside of the base (photo 2) are finished in a turquoise-blue enamel. The foot ring and the top rim are exposed brass. There are no maker marks, signatures, or country-of-origin stamps visible on the base or body of the item. Height: approximately 7 1/2 inches (19 cm) measured against the ruler (photo 4). The vase is in fair overall condition. There is visible surface pitting and a granular texture throughout the background enamel, consistent with the manufacturing process of mid-to-late 20th-century export wares (photo 1). The brass rim shows signs of darkening and oxidation on both the interior and exterior surfaces (photo 3 and photo 4). There is general surface wear and minor scuffing to the enamel and the exposed metal base ring (photo 2). No major dents, cracks, or significant losses to the enamel are visible in the provided views.
