German Ernst Plank Vertical Stationary Steam Engine circa 1910 - A German vertical stationary steam engine featuring a brass boiler mounted atop a square cast iron firebox base. The mechanism consists of a single-action oscillating cylinder connected to a black-painted flywheel. The flywheel is decorated with hand-painted yellow pinstriping on the six spokes. Affixed to the upper boiler is a functioning steam whistle with a lever and an integrated water level sight glass secured by two screws. The top of the boiler supports a tall, black-finished chimney with a flared cap. The base retains its original brass spirit lamp burner with a curved handle. An embossed brass plaque is adhered to the boiler featuring a shield-shaped cartouche containing the intertwined letters E and P, with the word Germany below and the characters 6 1/2 to the left. Height: 12.5 inches. The brass boiler displays significant tarnishing and heat-related surface oxidation throughout (photo 1). The black-finished chimney and cast iron base show extensive paint loss and surface rust (photo 7). The underside of the base and the interior of the firebox exhibit heavy soot and fuel residue from use (photo 9). There are multiple scuffs and scratches across all metal surfaces, and the yellow pinstriping on the flywheel shows minor losses (photo 3). The glass in the water level gauge remains intact (photo 4). Functionality is untested.
