German Stationary Live Steam Engine Toy - A German live steam engine toy featuring a horizontal boiler and a single-cylinder mechanism. The construction consists of a tin-plate base and engine components, including a brass-toned boiler with an integrated sight glass for monitoring water levels. The boiler is housed within a furnace enclosure featuring a stamped brick pattern, leading to a tall, matching brick-patterned chimney with a green patinated finish. The engine assembly includes a single-acting cylinder, a centrifugal governor, and a large cast metal flywheel with six spokes painted red. A coiled spring drive belt connects the crankshaft to a secondary pulley system. The underside of the gray-painted base is stamped with the characters MADE IN GERMANY in plain capital letters. The base measures approximately 9 inches in length (photo 8). The chimney height measures approximately 9.5 inches (photo 9). The item shows signs of use and age-related wear throughout. The boiler and chimney exhibit significant surface oxidation and heat-related tarnishing (photos 1, 5, and 6). There is verdigris present on the copper-toned chimney base (photo 6). The gray base plate shows scattered scratches, surface rust, and areas of paint loss, particularly around the edges and on the underside (photos 4 and 7). The red paint on the flywheel spokes is chipped in several areas (photo 2). The fuel tray is missing from the furnace opening (photo 3). The mechanical functionality is untested.
