Large Sterling Silver and Natural Banded Malachite Oval Cabochon Pendant - A large antique sterling silver pendant featuring a central natural malachite cabochon. The oval stone displays distinctive wavy light and dark green banding and is secured within a smooth bezel setting. The bezel is framed by a decorative twisted rope border, further surrounded by an ornate openwork frame. This outer frame incorporates symmetrical wirework scrolls and filigree, accented by small applied silver granules at the top and bottom terminals. The reverse side of the pendant is finished with a solid silver backing. A small, partially obscured stamp is impressed into the reverse center, consisting of three characters appearing to read 925. The piece is equipped with a fixed tapered bail at the top. Height: 2 1/4 inches Width: 1 3/4 inches Weight: 17.1 grams. The pendant remains in good antique condition. The sterling silver exhibits a heavy natural dark patina and tarnish throughout the recessed areas of the filigree and rope border (photo 1). The malachite cabochon is secure in its setting with a high-polished surface, showing no visible chips, cracks, or surface abrasions (photo 2). The reverse silver plate shows minor surface scratches and age-related wear consistent with use (photo 3). The 925 hallmark is present but appears slightly worn and shallowly struck (photo 4).
